Telangana government to launch bike ambulances

The Telangana government would soon launch 'bike ambulances' to help patients in remote areas of the state, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy said here today.
The 'bike ambulances' would be used in remote areas, mainly inhabited by tribals and also congested localities in Hyderabad and other cities, he said.

The body further said that there is a need for extending the 150 per cent weighted deduction scheme under section 35ad of the income tax act, 1961 for another 5 years upto 2022 while import duty relief should be provided in respect of lifesaving equipment, not manufactured in India.

"Earnings from medical tourism to be made tax exempt while there is a need for a liberalised FDI regime in respect of investments relating to medical education.
"Health care sector should be exempted from the mat regime under the income tax act while there should be inclusion of hospital as an industrial undertaking under section 72A of the income tax act," the memorandum said.
The health care body also asked the government to introduce an insurance policy for elders aged 55 and above to cover specific health risks arising from vulnerabilities of old age and instituting a health care savings fund for all salaried employees similar to the pf scheme which would be tax deductible among others.
