The Telangana government is set to announce its new industrial policy under which scheduled castes and scheduled tribe entrepreneurs would be specially encouraged, Telangana state Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao said here today.
The government plans to develop an industrial corridor between Hyderabad and Mahbubnagar, in addition to the one proposed between Hyderabad and Warangal, the minister said.
Replying to a question, on behalf of the Telangana Chief Minister in the Legislative Assembly today, the minister said the new industrial policy was approved at a state cabinet meeting two days ago.
"We will announce the policy in the Assembly in a day or two. It will be the best policy enabling clearances in quick time. We will also get 2000 MW of power by next year," Rama Rao said, replying to a question raised by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) members Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and others.
When asked if 24-hour power supply would be ensured to industries, the minister said that it would be supplied "as per availability".
Entrepreneurs belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes would be encouraged to establish industries in Telangana.
"We will not only provide them necessary training but also pay margin money for raising loans and setting up units," Rama Rao said, adding that women entrepreneurs would also be encouraged in a big way.
The minister said plans are being drawn up to open industrial parks in all districts of Telangana state.
The government is examining a proposal to set up a textile park in Warangal, he said.
