Hindu temples in the United States will organise blood donation camps to mark the 13th anniversary of 9/11 attack.
The fourth such annual effort is being coordinated by the Hindu Mandirs Executive Conference (HMEC), a network of approximately 600 temples in North America, a statement said yesterday.
Marrow registration has been added on the day of blood donation. Agencies such as the American Red Cross will collect the blood and SAMAR (South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters) will register marrow donors.
HMEC and leaders of the Indian-American community asked the temples and other religious based organisations to come forward and join this movement to save lives.
Educational institutions including faith-based organisations such as yoga schools and higher education student organisations have also joined this effort, the statement said.
