Tension prevails in Gorakhpur as locals clash with police

Tension prevailed at Khorabar area in Gorakhpur district after a clash erupted between police and locals who indulged in brick-batting and arson following the death of a person.
The mob blocked the road in Majnu Chauraha village after death of one Shravan Paswan, police said.
It is suspected that Paswan died after consuming spurious liquor, they said.
Angry over the incident, locals torched a kiosk, two police motorcycles and demanded compensation for the deceased's family.
When police tried to send the body for post-mortem, the mob indulged in brick-batting following which police used mild force to disperse them.
An FIR has been lodged and the matter is being investigated, police said.
