Territorial army soldier shot dead by militants

Suspected militants shot dead a territorial army soldier today outside his house in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.
Gowhar Ahmad Mattu, a soldier of 162 Territorial Army battalion, was shot at and critically injured by the militants as soon as he stepped out of his house at Laram-Ganjipora, 75 kms from here, police said.
The bullets hit Mattu, a former militant-turned-counter -insurgent, in the head, the police said, adding that he succumbed at a hospital here.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
