BJP MP Anurag Thakur today raised in the Lok Sabha the issue of monkey menace and the problems caused by stray animals in Himachal Pradesh where farmers in some areas have been forced to abandon farming.
Raising the issue during Zero hour, Thakur, who represents Hamirpur constituency in Himachal Pradesh, said people in some areas of the hilly state are facing the problem of monkey meance and stray animals.
A certain part of the income from the temples is also being used to fight the monkey menace, he said.
However, he said, the amount is not sufficient and sought funds from the Centre to tackle the problem due to which farmers are leaving farming.
Soon after Thakur finished speaking, speaker Sumitra Mahajan in a lighter vein asked Thakur if monkeys were brought from Himachal Pradesh and dropped in Delhi?
