Tharoor admitted to hospital, discharged after tests

Union Minister Shashi Tharoor was admitted to AIIMS early this morning for a "cardiac condition", hours after he found his wife dead in a hotel room, and was discharged in the afternoon.
A team of cardiologists carried out a series of tests on him including ECG and kept him under observation. As his tests report came normal and his condition was stable, he was discharged, doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences said.
AIIMS spokesperson Neerja Batla told reporters that Tharoor was admitted to AIIMS at 3:30 AM with general discomfort and palpitation.
"He has been recently diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure. He was kept under observation and examined by a team of cardiologists. ECG is normal and other tests are also normal. His condition is stable. He was kept under observation," she said.

"He has been discharged," a hospital source later said.
57-year-old Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead last night in a hotel room.

The body of 52-year-old Pushkar, a woman entrepreneur who married Tharoor in August 2010, was found in mysterious circumstances in luxury Leela Palace hotel in South Delhi.
Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat had said inquest proceedings have been initiated by the sub-divisional magistrate of the area. Any death within seven years of marriage is legally required to be investigated by the sub-divisional magistrate.
Pushkar and Tharoor were at the centre of a raging controversy in the last two days when reports emerged that she was upset over reported text and tweet messages between her husband and Mehr Tarar, Pakistani journalist.
