The Governor of Nagaland P B Acharya
today said that with the increase in Internet users and mobile connections citizens were expecting more and more information and services online from governments and private organizations to further their civil, professional and personal lives.
"There are endless ways to utilize Information and communication technologies to provide efficient and transparent solutions to citizens," said the governor during the inaugural session of the second e-Naga Summit.
The two day summit is being organised by the State IT Department at Indira Gandhi Stadium here on the theme 'Towards making the state of Nagaland the next IT hub in South east Asia'

At a micro level, he said information and communication technologies (ICT) could be used in individual departments for handling workflow systems, access to entitlements, public grievance systems, service delivery system such as payment of bills, tax information, provision of market information, he said.
Advisor to the President of Estonia, Dr Liia, congratulated Nagaland on recently being recognised by the Computer Society of India as the top performer on e-governance. This was a boost of successful start of the Nagaland's journey towards Digital Society, she said.
Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar said the central government had given a decisive push to digital infrastructure and e-governance with the Digital India initiative. He said that taking cue from the central government, biometric attendance system had been introduced in Nagaland secretariat.

Citizens in Dimapur can pay their electricity bills online, a facility which is being extended to other towns, he said.
