Hollywood film 'The Hundred-Foot Journey, which revolves around the culinary fight between an Indian and French family, has begun shooting in France.
Based on the best-selling book by Richard C Morais, the film has a steller cast in Oscar winning actress Helen Mirren, Manish Dayal and Om Puri.
'The Hundred-Foot Journey' is being directed by Swedish helmer Lasse Hallstrom, who has been behind films like 'My Life as a Dog', 'The Cider House Rules', 'Chocolat' and many ABBA videos.
Anil Ambani, Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey have teamed up for the first time to produce the movie along with Juliet Blake. DreamWorks in association with Participant Media will release the film on August 8, 2014.
The movie narrates the story of the Kadam family. Displaced from their native India and led by Papa (Puri), the Kadam family settles in the village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val in the south of France.
The picturesque village looks like the ideal place to settle down and open an Indian restaurant, the Maison Mumbai for the Kadam family until their encounter with chef proprietress of Le Saule Pleureur, a Michelin starred, classical French restaurant run by Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren).
Soon there is an all out war between the two establishments but Hassan Kadam (Dayal) finally manages to win over Mallory, who takes him under her wings.
