It's unclear, though, if the show will be filmed in LA or another city that could double as LA, reported E! online.
The pilot will reportedly feature scenes set in a school and a hospital. Other details of the show have been kept under tight wraps.
However, several principal characters on the show had been revealed. They include a Latino man in his 40s and his son, a single mother in her 30s and her teenage son and daughter, as well as a character named Andrea Chapman who "has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage."
The pilot, penned by Dave Erickson and the 'Walking Dead' comic book author Robert Kirkman, will be shot in early 2015.
