The trio were arrested with 61 gelatin sticks and 31 electronic detonators, weighing 7.6 kilograms, near Khardi Junction in Diaghar today, police said. A motorcycle was also seized from them.
They have been identified as Dilip Rane (26), Nitin Dongre (31), both Diva residents, and Kalyan-resident Nitin Kavankar (23).
A police officer said the arrests were made after a trap was laid on the basis of specific information about some people trying to sell gelatin sticks and detonators.
The explosives were apparently to be used for quarrying and didn't have any connection with terror activities. However all angles are being investigated, the officer added.
