The incident occurred at around 2.30 AM when the three managed to give a slip to the police and escaped from the police station when a constable had taken another accused to a toilet outside the station, a senior police officer said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Malkajgiri Zone) Ramesh Naidu, acting on a tip-off, a police team had last night intercepted one auto-rickshaw and caught five persons in connection with cell phone theft cases.
Initially, the three, all locals, were taken to the toilet by the constable and brought back to the police station and when the constable took another arrested accused to the toilet, the three managed to escape from the station, Naidu said adding a hunt has been launched to nab them.
