Three Crime Branch constables terminated from service

Ghaziabad District police chief today terminated three constables posted in crime branch from police service on the charge of extorting money from a Noida based businessman and sent 27 others including the crime branch inspector to the police line, a police officer said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmedra Singh said three constable Rajiv Malik, Rajendra Rathi and Neeraj Rathi who were posted at Ghaziabad crime branch in connivance with a Head Constable posted in Noida had extorted Rs 1.5 lakh from a business man Rupesh Kumar and had threatened him to implicate in a frivolous case if he didn't pay another instalment of Rs 15 lakh to them.
In his complaint Rupesh who is running a financial assistance firm had alleged that 4 persons claiming themselves Special Task Force (STF) personnel came to his Harola (Noida) office on August 27 and told him that they have confirmed information that he is committing fraud under the garb of insurance claims.
The frightened businessman handed over Rs 1.5 lakh and two laptops to them.
Taking cognizance of the incident the Ghaziabad Police Chief terminated three crime branch constables from police services, the officer said.
Suspecting the dubious activities of crime branch of the district the SSP transferred 27 other sleuths to Harsaon police lines.
While the in-charge inspector Arun Singh and a sub-inspector Suresh Chand Belwal have been attached to the police office.
The SSP further said that crime branch has been reconstituted with 5 constable posted therein.
They will look after mobile surveillance work only.
In case they have to raid any place in search of any accused person they will have to inform the concerned police station and the local police staff will accompany them, the police officer added.
