Three killed, 22 hurt as bus on religious trip falls in valley

Three people, including a minor girl, were killed and 22 others injured"when their bus fell into a valley at Gaydari ghat in the district early today, a police official said.

The victims, belonging to Navsari and Surat districts in Gujarat, were on a religious tour to Saptshrungi Devigarh, a site of Hindu pilgrimage in Nashik, when the driver of the private bus lost control over the wheels around 4 am, the official at Borgaon police station said.

As a result, the vehicle skidded off the Borgaon- Nanashi road and fell into the valley at the ghat, located about 70 kms from the district headquarters, he said.

The deceased, who were yet to be identified, included two women and a girl of about eight years of age, he said.

The police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured people, including the bus driver, to the government hospitals at Borgaon and Ahava in the district, the official said.

A case was registered in connection with the mishap, he added.
