A three-layer security cordon will be put in place outside each of the nine counting centres in the city, where votes for the 2016 Assembly polls will be counted tomorrow.
The first two layers would be manned by Kolkata Police, while central forces will man the last line of security outside the counting centres, a senior official of Kolkata Police said.
Kolkata Police Special Additional and Joint Commissioner (Headquarters) Supratim Sarkar said section 144 of CrPC would be effective within a 100-metre-radius outside each of the nine counting centres.
Fourteen senior police officials of the rank of DCs would be present outside the centres besides the Kolkata Police divisional deputy commissioners, he said.
Apart from increased patrolling, about 233 police pickets would be erected at different important points to keep a check on post-poll violence in and around the city.
"We are cautious and keeping a tight vigil on the entry and exit points of the city so that no untoward incident can take place," a senior police officer said, adding precautionary arrests were also made in this connection.
While counting for Chowringhee, Entally, Belaghata, Shampukur, Maniktala, Jorasanko and Cossipore seats would be held at Netaji Indoor Stadium, counting for Tollygunge would be held at Physical Education for Women at Hastings House.
David Hare Training College will be the counting centre for Ballygunge, while Ballygunge Govt High School is the centre for Rashbehari.
Meanwhile, counting for Behala (East) and Behala (West) seats would be held at Bratachari Old Age Home and Sister Nibedita Government General Degree College for Girls respectively, while Gitanjali Stadium is the centre for counting votes of Jadavpur and Kasba seats.
