A three-member board today conducted the the post-mortem of the 30-year-old man who died after he allegedly smashed a beer bottle on his head in south Delhi's Hauz Khas Village on New Year's eve.
The deceased, identified as Deepak Tandon, allegedly had a fight with DJ over playing the music of his choice and when he was stopped, he allegedly smashed a beer bottle on his head, police had said.
However, his family has filed a complaint at Safdarjung Enclave police station alleging that he was roughed up by the bouncers of the venue where he was partying and they attacked him with a beer bottle.
"We requested the Safdarjung hospital to constitute a three-member board and conduct the autopsy. The family has alleged that he was roughed up by bouncers and they attacked him. A three-member board carried out the autopsy today and they will share the report with police detailing the cause of death," said a senior police officer.
Deepak had come to a cafe and bar in Hauz Khas Village, for partying with his friends on New Year's eve.
He allegedly had 15 beers and was in an inebriated state following which he got involved in a fight over playing the music of his choice, police had said.
He was fighting over playing music of his choice and people were trying to pacify him but he refused to listen and smashed a bottle on his head in anger, they had added.
Tandon had come down to Delhi from Ludhiana for celebrating New Year's eve with two of his friends. In their statement, his friends have told police that they weren't inside the venue when the incident happened.
A representative from the venue (Elf Cafe and Bar) said, "We have recorded our statement with police. The staff members who were present at the time of the incident have shared details of the incident with police. We are fully cooperating with the probe.
