Rajnandgaon district police said Mohan Korram alias Shaymlal, the commander of military platoon No.23 of Naxals, surrendered today.
A police officer said on May 26, the security forces had captured Tara, a member of platoon No. 23, who during questioning told police that Mohan had gone to his native place Kudurpal Narayanpur "on leave". Subsequently, police established contact with Mohan, who expressed his wish to surrender.
According to the police, Mohan had joined the Naxal movement in 2006. He allegedly told the police that Naxal leaders from Andhra Pradesh often humiliate the local cadres, which led to his disenchantment with the movement.
They were members of battalion No. 2 and were active in north Bastar and Abuzmaad regions of Chhattisgarh. Both of them had joined the movement in 2005.
