Three-time Congress MP from Gurgaon, Rao Inderjit Singh, who had announced quitting the party after seeking a CBI probe into land deals of Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, will join BJP on February 13.
"I have decided to join the BJP. The formal joining will take place at the party office in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh," the rebel Congress MP said.
He said that he has already held detailed discussions about his joining with Rajnath Singh as well as party's Haryana affairs in-charge Harshavardhan and Jagdish Mukhi. He has also met senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.
Singh said he was keen to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Though he did not say anything on whether he has been assured of a party ticket by the BJP, his joining ahead of elections and his keenness to contest indicates that ticket has been cleared by the BJP top brass.
Though Rao Inderjit Singh had recently floated his own outfit 'Insaaf Manch' recently, he has openly been supporting Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate.
He said joining BJP was the best option before him and he would strive hard to help Modi become prime minister and bring the party to power in Haryana in the Assembly elections slated towards the year end.
Rao Inderjit (62) has openly voiced his opinion against the land deals of Robert Vadra and also demanded a thorough probe. He has also been critical of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
He has been a former Union Minister of State and a Haryana Cabinet Minister. Singh has been a four-time MLA and a three-time MP from the area.
