Three Maoists, carrying cash rewards on their heads, today surrendered in Odisha's Malkangiri district, police said.
The three ultras, including a woman cadre, who surrendered were allegedly involved in over 29 cases related to murder, landmine blasts, attacks on police and other offences, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said.
The red rebels, identified as Irma Kabasi, Era Madkami and Radhika, carried Rs one lakh reward each on their head announced by Odisha Government, he said.
Kabasi was allegedly involved in the naxal attack on a convoy of Congress leaders in Darbha Valley in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh in 2013, while the other two were active in Kalimela area of Malkangiri, he said.
The ultras decided to surrender as they were disillusioned with the banned outfit and realised that the red rebels had deviated from the Maoist ideology, the SP said.
Describing the surrender of the trio as a major success for police, he said the three would be rehabilitated as per the government's policy.
