Three women killed in hit-and-run accident in Chhindwara

Three women were crushed to death today by a truck on the Amarwada-Harrai road near here. The unidentified driver fled with the vehicle afterwards.
The women were heading towards a forest to collect firewood when the truck ran over them, killing all three on the spot, Amarwada sub-divisional officer of police Neelu Barty said.
The deceased were identified as Vaijayanti Daheria (35) Jamila Ali (45) and Rajni Daheria (35).
Angry locals staged a road blockade at the spot, Barty added, until the police, after taking possession of the bodies, persuaded them to call the protest off.
Harrai police station has registered a case under the IPC and the Motor Vehicles Act against the unidentified truck driver.

Tehsildar Neeta Kori sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs 10,000 each to the kin of the deceased women.
