The anniversary of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, a freedom fighter, would be held at Pasumpon village in Ramanathapuram district while the Guru Pooja of Maruthupandiar brothers, who were the first to oppose the British, would be held at Kalaiyarkovil in Sivaganga district.
With the 144 regulatory order already in force in the districts, police have been deployed in full strength in Madurai, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts to monitor the situation.
About 3000 police personnel would be on security duty for the Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar's birth anniversary.
Liquor shops would be closed for four days from tomorrow in Madurai district, officials said, adding, hired vehicles would not be allowed and guidelines for celebrating the Guru Pooja would be strictly implemented.
