With five Congress councillors and one CPI(M) councillor joining the Trinamool Congress, the ruling party captured the board of Haldibari Municipality IN Cooch Behar district today, a senior TMC leader said here.
Earlier, the Congress had six councillors followed by TMC's three, and CPI(M) and Forward Bloc had one each in the municipality.
After the six councillors switched over to ruling TMC in the party headquarter here, the board came under TMC's control, party MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay said.
In the changed scenario, the municipality has nine TMC councillors while Congress and Forward Bloc have one councillors each, he said.
