TMC leader Arabul Islam gets bail

A court here today granted bail to Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Arabul Islam, who was arrested in connection with a murder case in South 24 Parganas district.

Baruipur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Paresh Karmakar granted bail to Islam on a bond of Rs 20,000.

Islam, a district-level TMC leader and a former MLA, was arrested on May 12 on the orders of West Bengal Chief Minister and his party supremo Mamata Banerjee.

He was admitted to a hospital on May 19 after he complained of chest pain.

The TMC leader was charged with murder in connection with the killing of a supporter of an Independent candidate in the panchayat polls in the state.

Hafizul Mollah (25) was hit by a bullet on his chest when he was taking part in a procession at Bhangor in South 24 Parganas district.
