TMC questions statement demand on attack on former LF minister

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) today questioned the demand for a statement by the opposition Left Front on the attack on Forward Bloc leader and former minister Naren De saying that when it ruled the state it did not pay heed to such calls.
"When the TMC chief Mamata Banerjee was evicted from Writers' Buildings during a dharna with a rape victim before then Chief Minister Jyoti Basu's chamber, the LF government did not give any statement despite a demand," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee told reporters outside the House.
He said that the erstwhile regime also did not give any statement in the House after Mamata was evicted from the Lalbazar Police headquarters.

Chatterjee said that the same thing happened during police actions at Singur, Nandigram, Netai and other places.
"How many times did the LF government give statements or admitted the Opposition party's adjournment motion in the Assembly?" he asked.
"So many issues had taken place during LF regime, but in no case did the ruling party listen to our demands. However, we don't believe in the politics of revenge and our party chief has forgotten them," Chatterjee said.

He said the LF should first identify those who attacked De while questioning why the complaint was filed the next day.
The police were investigating the matter and the perpetrators would be arrested, he added.

He also criticised both the LF besides the Congress, for the drubbing in the recent Assembly elections, and said that they had lost relevance in the state.
