TN CM leaves for national capital

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami today left for New Delhi to attend tomorrow's Niti Ayog meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Palaniswami left by a private carrier on what will be his second visit to the national capital after being sworn in as the Chief Minister in February.
The visit comes at a time when a group of farmers from Tamil Nadu have been protesting for over a month in Delhi pressing various demands, including waiver of loans by public sector banks.
Also, the visit comes amid rumblings in the ruling AIADMK where the two factions, led by him on one side and his predecessor O Paneerselvam on the other, are expected to hold merger talks in the coming days.

Palaniswami, who was elected Chief Minister following a vertical split in the AIADMK after Paneerselvam's revolt against the party chief V K Sasikala, had earlier met Modi in Delhi soon after assuming office and took up a number of issues concerning the State with the Prime Minister including drought relief.
