Electricity Minister, Natham R Viswanathan said the Generator Protection System installed in the fourth unit in Tuticorin Thermal Power Plant would be replaced with latest technology at a cost of Rs 81 lakh.
While the excitation system in units 2 and 4 of Mettur Thermal Power Plant, fifth unit of Tuticorin Thermal Power Plant, 2nd and 3rd units of North Chennai Thermal Power Plant would be replaced at a cost of Rs 7.29 crore, Biler Feed Pumps in second unit of Tuticorin Thermal Plant would be replaced at Rs 9.22 crore, he said.
The government is also planning to renew Electro Static Precipitator in Tuticorin fifth unit at Rs 10.11 crore, install 51 capacitor banks in sub stations at Rs 12.74 crore and procure computer accessories and software for the Department at Rs 1 crore.
