Noting that it was a duty for the people to protect family of armed forces personnel, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said in a statement, adding, "the proceedings generated through Flag Day were used towards the welfare of the families".
The government is executing various schemes for the families of armed forces who sacrificed their life for the nation.
"As a show of patriotism to the sacrifices made by the personnel, I appeal to contribute towards the Flag Day fund", he said.
