TN Govt to offer training for SC/ST students for CAT

In a bid to help Adi Dravidar and ST students to take up post-graduate management and other courses in top institutions, Tamil Nadu Government today announced it would train 100 meritorious students every year to prepare for the Common Admission Test and allocated Rs 50 lakh for it.
Engineering graduates from among the Adi Dravidar and ST communities will be selected based on merit to pursue courses like MBA in institutions like IIMs, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department Minister N Subramanian told the state assembly.
The government would spend a sum of Rs 50,000 for each of the students, he said.
It had also decided to impart training in yoga for students in 1,397 schools coming under his department, he said.
Yoga training would be given to teachers who will in turn train students. In the first phase 414 teachers will be covered under this initiative, he added.
