The move was part of the Jayalalithaa government's efforts to usher in a 'Second White Revolution,' Dairy Development Minister V Moorthy told the Assembly.
"The Dairy Development department will provide 10,000 milch cows to milk producers at the village level," he said, adding, financial assistance from bank would be sought for the scheme.
He said the government was already providing free milch cows to beneficiaries, referring to the ruling AIADMK's key sop, saying the "scheme is a success."
Meanwhile, Minister for Animal Husbandry, TKM Chinnaiah, said that 12,000 beneficiaries have been provided with milch cows in the year 2011-12.
"Over 30,000 litres of milk is being poured for(state-run) Aavin network by these beneficiaries of the scheme every day," he said. PTI SA RC
