TN jails to have enhanced health care amenities
Press Trust of India Chennai Tamil Nadu government today announced that it would procure medical equipment worth Rs 2.34 crore to enhance health care amenities in jails in the state.
A range of 13 types of medical equipment, including ventilators, oxygen flowmeters, and multi-channel monitors would be provided to 13 hospitals and 30 ambulances attached to nine Central Prisons, three Special Prison for Women, a borstal school and district jail, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said in the assembly.
The equipment would be procured at a cost of Rs 2.34 crore and sent to such correctional institutions.
During the current year, for field personnel of the prison department 100 residential quarters will be built at a cost of Rs 14.57 crore, she said.
