TN Muslim outfits protest attack on Lankan Muslims

Protesting the attacks on Muslims in Sri Lanka, members of two Tamil Nadu-based outfits of the community held demonstrations outside the island nation's Deputy High Commission here today.
Members of Tamil Nadu Thowheedh Jamaath (TNTJ) and Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) staged separate protests outside the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission office at Nungambakkam, police said.
About 50 protestors were detained and later let off, they said.
The protestors demanded justice for the victims and action against the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, Indian National League (INL) state President S J Inayathullah was scheduled to meet the consular officials here tomorrow on this issue, a party release said.
Three persons were killed and nearly 100 people were injured in ethnic violence after a Buddhist majority nationalist group staged a rally in Muslim-dominated areas of Beruwala, Dharga Town and Aluthgama on the south-western coast of Sri Lanka on Sunday.
