Three Delhi Police commandos are among 20 teams, belonging to various State police and paramilitary forces, participating in the ongoing All India Police Commando Competition.
Sandeep (23), belonging to Delhi commando unit, sustained serious injuries to his feet and leg when the munition exploded on January 23. He was later admitted to a private hospital and has undergone surgery and is continuing treatment.
The Delhi team went for practice at Hanumanthapuram firing range and the team went into a nearby jungle for more practice on their own when the accident occurred, the Chief Minister said in a statement here.
Announcing that the state government would bear all the medical expenses of Sandeep, Jayalalithaa also sanctioned Rs five lakh as financial assistance from the CM's Public Relief Fund.
