TN to construct 37 new godowns for storing food grains

To enhance its food grains storage capacity, Tamil Nadu government today said it will construct 37 new godowns at an estimated cost of over Rs 117 crore in the state.
This will be the first phase of government's move to establish 47 storage facilities in all and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has accorded administrative approval for Rs 117.20 crore, a government release said.
A total of 37 godowns with a capacity of nearly 1.47 lakh tonnes will be constructed in 19 districts, including Kancheepuram, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli and Karur by Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, the release said.
