A two-year-oldgirl, who accidentally fell into a 15 feet deep borewell in a village near here Sunday, was successfully rescued after nearly two hours by the fire and rescue services personnel.
The child is undergoing treatment at Nagapattinam General Hospital and is said to be out of danger, fire and rescue services officials said.
Sivadharshini fell into the narrow borewell at Pudupalli village in the district while playing near her house Sunday afternoon, they said.
Immediately, the child's parents informed the fire and rescue services personnel, who rushed to the spot from Vailankanni, Nagapattinam and Vedaranyam.
A mobile medical team from Nagapattinam arrived at the spot and provided oxygen supply to the child stuck at a depth of 15 feet.
A parallel pit was dug and the child was rescued after a two-hour operation, they added.
