The film, which premiered last week at the Toronto International Film Festival, will open in New York and Los Angeles on November 20 and then go wide on December 11, reported Entertainment Weekly.
The new release date pits "Legend" against "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" and Todd Haynes' highly anticipated period romance "Carol", which premiered at Cannes to early Oscar buzz.
Written and directed by Brian Helgeland, "Legend" tells the true story of notorious British gangsters Reggie and Ronnie Kray, both portrayed by Hardy.
