There may be a lot of focus on Bangkok because of the protests that have been seen in the city over the past fortnight, but none of the star players assembled here for the third edition of the Thailand Golf Championships seemed to be overly concerned about it.
When asked if they were bothered or apprehensive about all the news appearing in international media, Henrik Stenson, the most successful player worldwide in 2013, laughed and said, "No. No, we're all here, ready to go."
Justin Rose admitted he had heard but didn't notice much. "We've been reassured, and I haven't really in noticed too much. I know there's a lot going on but it all seems to be relatively peaceful, so absolutely no worries from our end."
Rickie Fowler, who is one quarter Japanese and wants to be known as a global players, said: "Same for my side. There's no worries on it. I knew the tournament was on top of everything, and if there was any concerns, they would let us know, but they have taken care of us very well, and definitely no concerns before coming over here."
Sergio Garcia added, "Not at all, no. Not on my side." Later he added, "I've been coming to Asia for quite a while now. Pretty much since I turned pro. So, I've always enjoyed playing all over the world.
