Tourist dies of cardiac arrest on way to Jammu from Kashmir

A 59-year-old tourist from Maharashtra died of cardiac arrest along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway while returning from Kashmir, a police official said.

Balaji Shinde, resident of Basmat Hingoli, was brought to a hospital by his friends in the highway township of Banihal. However, doctors declared him 'brought dead', he added.

Shinde and his friends were returning from Kashmir where they had gone on a holiday, the official said. Shinde had complained of chest pain and fell unconscious, he added.

Inquest proceedings have been initiated, the official said.
