A little over 29.38 lakh tourists had visited the state during 2015 and till date 8.84 lakh have visited, Natarajan said at the valedictory of Annual Summer Festival in the district.
The growth record indicates that the tourist arrival is expected to surpass the 30 lakh mark, he added.
Under Vision 2023 programme, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had sanctioned Rs 10 crore to develop infrastructure at tourist destinations, as a result of which about 1.05 crore foreign tourists are expected to visit the state, he noted.
