The approximately USD 1.5 billion coal-fired power plant, has completed its first 660-megawatt unit in February 2015 and is already supplying 500 megawatts of power to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana power distribution companies under a 25-year power purchase agreement, the company said in a statement.
Commenting on the development, CEO of TPCIL Atul Nagrund said, "It is indeed an honour to announce the successful commissioning of the second unit... With this, the plant is fully operational with gross generation capacity of 1,320 megawatts, helping to meet the increasing power demand in the southern states of India and supporting their economic growth.
