Sanjay was on way to his shop in Shivsinghpur village when he was waylaid by the three motorcycle-borne assailants, SSP Ajay Mohan Yadav said.
The trio shot him dead and fled with his bag containing the cash, he said.
An FIR had been registered and efforts were on to nab the attackers, the SSP said.
