Traditional industries will be the focus of the 27th edition of the Kerala Science Congress (KSC) to be held in Alappuzha from January 27 to 30.
The annual event, organised by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), will be attended by over 2,000 delegates, including researchers, teachers, scholars, and students.
The meet will be chaired by Dr Tessy Thomas, a top scientist of India's missile programme and Project Director of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
A major objective of the meet would be to identify the impact and relevance of indigenous industrial practices and resources on Kerala's traditional industries such as coir, handloom and cashew, Tessy Thomas told a press meet here today.
A special session on Traditional Industries will be held to evolve strategies for reviving the traditional industrial sector in Kerala. The special theme of the Science Congress has been chosen in the backdrop of the traditional industrial case of Alappuzha.
A session on transportation planning and research would look at addressing concerns on transportation development in Kerala and deliberate on the technological advancements in the field of transportation planning and research.
KSCSTE Executive Vice President, Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai will preside over the inaugural function.
