The survey conducted recently had a sample size of 3,500 metro commuters in the age group of 18-45. It was conducted to understand passengers receptability and sentiments about Delhi Metro.
The study, conducted by research firm Market Xcel Data Matrix, revolves around the opinion of daily Metro commuters on the construction work of Phase III, perception and opinion pertaining to addition of an extra coach for women in the Phase III corridor and addition of general coach.
The other prominent issues are dust pollution (47%), area encroachment (45%) and noise pollution (38%).
About 87 per cent of the respondents find travelling in Metro convenient and time-saving, while over 90 per cent find it to be the safest mode of transport in Delhi.
A total of 55 per cent of the respondents use the metro at least once a day, while 29 per cent use it twice, including 56 per cent who use it to reach their workplace and 30 per cent who use it to reach their school or college.
While only 8 per cent of the respondents were aware of eight coaches in trains, 83 per cent knew about six coaches.
Around 93 per cent respondents feel the need for an additional coach apart from the existing one reserved for women on the already operational lines.
About 72 per cent were in favor of one extra coach for women, whereas 78 per cent wanted an additional general coach apart from the existing coaches in the upcoming corridor.
More than 80 per cent respondents are unhappy by heavy rush at entry and exit points.
Around 83 per cent respondents expect improvement in DMRC services, including crowd management, scope for drinking water facility and increasing frequency of trains during peak hours.
