Officials said that traffic police constable RK Patil had allegedly abused and manhandled Jawahar Lulla when the latter went to him asking for help while Lulla's two-wheeler was being towed away by the traffic police.
Police added that both Lulla and Patil had filed complaints against each other at Central Police Station in Uhasnagar with the constable claiming that Lulla had hit him.
A video of the incident went viral following which an inquiry was ordered, which led to Patil's suspension on the orders of the Joint Commissioner of Police, said officials. Officials said that further probe into the matter was underway.
