Trainee woman police constable commits suicide in Telangana

A 23-year-old woman trainee police constable allegedly committed suicide at Telangana State Police Academy here hours after her close friend, ended her life in neighbouring Nalgonda district, police said today.
N Naveena was upset after her close friend Madhavi, also a woman police constable committed suicide yesterday, said the official.
"Naveena, was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a saree at 10.10 pm yesterday by her room mates," Narsingi Police Station Inspector G V Ramana Goud said.
"After seeing her hanging, they forcibly opened the door and brought her down and shifted her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead," Goud said.

"The immediate reason for her to take the extreme step was learning about her close friend Madhavi's suicide.
"Madhavi, a woman police constable attached to Vemulapally police station in Nalgonda district committed suicide yesterday and Naveena got the news late last evening," the police official said.

"She got upset after hearing the news about the death of her close friend," he said.
A family member of Naveena said "The only reason (for Naveena to resort to the extreme step was) because Madhavi had committed suicide and that's why she also ended her life. Both were close friends since childhood."
A case was registered and further probe is on.
