"Gokul Gram under the Rastriya Gokul Mission will be set up here for the upgradation of Hariyana and Shahiwal breed," Dr K M L Pathak, Vice Chancellor Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary University and Cow Research Centre said.
The centre would would help in developing good variety of bulls and a semen bank would also be set up under it.
"It would also work for the upgradation of Gaushalas of Brijbhumi," he said.
"It would upgrade the two breeds to an extent that its milk yield is comparable to other variety of cows," Pathak said.
Marketing of milk produced by indigenous cows would be anotherpriority. Since it would become profitable, the problem of stray cows and their slaughtering would be checked, he said.
Pathak also announced plans to to start a college of fisheries in the university from the next academic session.
