The Tamil Nadu government today informed the Madras High Court that training programmes for both teachers and aspirants of the National Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test will start by this month-end.
A submission to this effect was made by the additional advocate general when a petition relating to NEET came up before Justice N Kirubakaran.
The judge had earlier posed various questions regarding NEET to which the state health secretary filed a counter- affidavit today.
Secretary of Department of Health and Family Welfare J Radhakrishnan, among other things, submitted that the state has proposed to identify teachers in every district to give sufficient training to them so that they provide proper coaching to NEET aspirants.
Exclusive training centres for competitive exam aspirants would be established in all district central libraries at a cost of Rs 72 lakh, the counter-affidavit states.
Regarding cases registered for protests against the NEET, it said 1,422 agitations have been reported in the state of which 933 were by political parties and 317 were by students.
The counter also said that counselling process has been completed in government and self-financing private medical colleges, and government quota as well as management quota seats have been filled.
The court was further informed by the additional advocate general that a question bank on NEET has already been prepared in English but is yet to be translated in Tamil.
The judge has posted the matter for further hearing to November 8.
