Transparency, good governance back in Sanchar Bhawan: Prasad

Sanchar Bhawan, which houses the telecom ministry, was "known for all the wrong reasons, but now there is transparency and good governance", Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said today.
He claimed that governance has improved after the Modi government took over.
"The Prime Minister has undertaken about 23-24 foreign tours... Through these visits, the Prime Minister wants to convey that India is a country whose voice must be heard at the world stage. India is an important power of the world," Prasad said during a book launch here.
The book by A K Agarwal titled 'Indian Industrialisation - Trajectory Redefined' analyses Prime Minister Narendra Modi's global reach.

On initiatives taken by the government, Prasad said India has received the highest FDI in telecom and programmes such as Digital India, Make in India and Skill India are all in sync.
Talking about the financial health of the state-owned BSNL, the minister said between 2004 when the NDA government left power and 2014 when it was voted back to power, BSNL slipped from a profit of Rs 10,000 crore to a loss of Rs 8,000 crore.
"I asked BSNL to shape up and this year, the company has reported an operating profit," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma said the achievement of the government in the last 18 months is faith has been restored in governance and the political system under Modi's leadership.
