Transport Commissioner appears before ACB

Delhi Transport Commissioner Sanjay Kumar today appeared before the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) investigators in connection with the probe into the Premium Bus Service scheme.
Kumar appeared at ACB office and was questioned by the investigators for around an hour about various aspects of the app-based bus service scheme.
Last week, the ACB of the Delhi Government had asked the IAS officer to join the investigation in connection with the case, but he did not turn up for questioning.
The Anti Corruption Branch had launched probe into the premium bus service scheme notified by the Arvind Kejriwal government on a complaint of BJP MLA and Leader of House in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, on June 2.

A notice was also issued to the Transport Commissioner Sanjay Kumar to join the probe but he was unavailable for questioning.
The Delhi government had issued a notification on May 20 to roll out the premium bus service scheme from June 1 but the Lt governor red flagged the launch saying that his prior approval had not been obtained.
The notification, signed by Transport Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, had created an impression that it was issued following approval from the Lt Governor.
Gupta had alleged in his complaint that the scheme was "aimed" at benefiting a private company.
