The airport has earmarked a dedicated space at the entrance of the departure terminal for the new 'Express Security Check' facility.
At this facility, domestic passengers can print their boarding pass from self-service kiosks and enter the "Express Security Check lane" and head to the boarding area without standing in a check-in queue.
GMR's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA)in Hyderabad is the first airport in India to provide pre- embarkation security check right at the terminal's entry gate, the airport said in a statement.
According to GMR, Hyderabad airport handles more than 18,000 domestic departure passengers on a daily basis, of which close to 40 per cent travel without any checked-in baggage, and carry at most only hand baggage.
Hyderabad airport was also the first airport to roll out end-to-end e-boarding system, eliminating the need to carry a physical boarding pass thereby enabling seamless movement within the airport.
