The Kerala government today decided to impose a ban on monsoon bottom trawling by mechanised fishing boats in the Kerala coast for 47 days from June 14, State Fisheries Minister J Mercykutty said here.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of top officials of the Fisheries department and representatives of various fishermen outfits, an official release said.
The ban, intended to enhance marine fish stock and improve their habitat, will be in force from June 14 to July 31.
